Ministry trips 2020
KENYA- January 2020
LWM had been asked to resurrect a Bible School, so the trip started with four days of intensive teaching for the newly enrolled students, mostly pastors, as a prelude to weekly teaching sessions being provided over the year.
Many attend church on Sunday, but in the week visit witch doctors and are influenced by ancestral spirits. Mark brought many copies of a booklet, ‘Witchcraft - inside the Church’ to a particular church, and preached on the subject before distributing them. The host pastor seized on the message, saying that ninety per cent of his congregation were involved with it.
Kenya’s population is estimated at 53 million people, (47 million by government census) with a great increase over recent decades in the number of people who claim to be Christian. However, there is much non-biblical belief and practice, in the towns as well as the rural areas. The need for Bible teaching and Christian discipleship is great. There were opportunities in several churches for pastors’ seminars, as well as gospel outreach in one of the suburbs of Kisumu.
Ministry also took place in the prison, in each of the maximum security, medium security and women’s sections. The Christian presence in each of these is growing, as witnessed by LWM’s visits over a number of years now. Hope is vitally needed in their extremely difficult circumstances.
